I have attended Cuckoo Hill over the past number of years in different guises, as a participant  and also a coach. What Tommie has created is a fantastic resource right on our doorstep. Cuckoo Hill brings a new dimension to fitness; it is fun, challenging and most of all enjoyable. As a participant Tommie constantly challenges you to achieve your best, however is brilliant at understanding your ability and identifying the appropriate exercises for you. Cuckoo Hill is set in natural surroundings away from the humdrum of a gym or just running constantly around a pitch.

St. Joseph’s College (Garbally) Ballinasloe

Sixty Transition year boys from St. Joseph’s College (Garbally) Ballinasloe completed a one day course in Cuckoo Hill Boot Camp. From start to finish the day was planned and managed effectively and professionally. The venue is located in the countryside on a large plot of land ten minutes outside Ballinasloe town, in a safe secluded area. The instructors are all trained in first aid in case of any tumbles or sprains. The changing facilities were spacious and clean We arrived on the premises at 9.30 a.m., we were met by the three instructors where they informed the students and teachers about the timetable of activities for the day. The boys then were put into teams and a captain or team leader was chosen by the students themselves, the nominated student needed to be a good delegator. All the activities completed during the day by the groups were given scores depending on the objective of the task and were counted.

Teacher with 25 years classroom experience from the Ballinasloe area.

I recently completed a course of 7 weeks in the Cuckoo Hill Boot Camp, Taughmaconnell, Ballinasloe with my class of 31 fifth class children (mixed boys and girls)

From the onset it was obvious that the course was:

  • Clearly planned and laid out
  • Effectively managed and supervised
  • Suitably differentiated to ensure that each child was encouraged and enabled to stretch themselves and reach their potentials in a safe, positive and exiting environment.
